Lena Hernandez joined D&P as an associate in 2006 and manages client event logistics. Lena is responsible for overseeing our interactions with vendors, event venues and travel organizations involved in our work with, and on behalf of, clients. Lena has coordinated the scheduling and logistics for client events and PSA production. She is responsible for information dissemination to Capitol Hill and third party organizations. Prior to joining our team, Lena was a Manager at Results Gym in Washington, where she oversaw a staff of 50 and led recruitment and retention initiatives to ensure a high quality workforce. Lena also participated in campaigns to promote club membership and maximize customer service.

From 2003 to 2005, Lena served as a Teen Health Promoter at the DC-based Latin American Youth Center, which provides educational, social service and job skills development to multicultural youth. In that position, she implemented and managed a training program that exposed high-school students to careers in health care. Among other responsibilities, Lena conducted student recruitment and selection, coordinated training schedules, monitored student performance, assisted in curriculum development and supervised student presentations to external audiences.

In her position as Special Assistant to the President & CEO of the Congressional Hispanic Caucus Institute, Lena was responsible for a range of activities critical to the smooth functioning of the organization. She served as a liaison to the organization’s board of directors, managed relationships with leading corporate supporters, and coordinated all presidential communications and outreach with external partners and stakeholders.

Lena has worked tirelessly on local community initiatives to improve life conditions for oppressed and marginalized populations. As a member of the Youth Advisory Council of the National Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual & Transgender Organization, she helped facilitate the involvement of Latino youth in GLBT civil rights efforts. As a board member of the Sexual Minority Youth Assistance League, she worked to advance social, educational and economic opportunities for GLBT youth.
